Nothing is What it Seems
A dark streak on my bedroom window rests
lightly on a bare branch
crow shit most likely
then whoosh it
takes off wings spread
toward the mountains
as my head drops
onto my shoulder and
circles back flying free
on currents of air
diving here and there
in time with the undulating
back and forth of my head.
What a hoot
to see the world
is such a fluid space.
What’s New
OUT WITH THE OLD & IN WITH THE NEW
One of the joys of 2021 were the two Writing and Contemplation retreats I taught, one alone and one with Barbara Bash. Looking towards 2022, I hope to offer two new retreats, both with the writing and contemplation format, each with a different theme – Aging and Healing.
I would love to hear from any of you who might know of a group, center, or organization that might want to host one.

Who Knew? is a new collection of twenty three poems celebrating the joys and sorrows of aging. In Who Knew? I share my journey of discovery through the sometimes hilarious, often heartbreaking, always surprising world of getting older.
“Oh my, the poems are warm and friendly, like a conversation we might be having somewhere, about our surprises and shocks of aging. They are intimate and yet reflect this journey that I, and so many around the world, are having. I know I will share them with my Stormy Waves group who gather to talk about ‘sickness, old age and death’.”
– Barbara Dilley, dancer/educator/author – This Very Moment - teaching, thinking, dancing
“This little book of poetry is an intimate and insightful exploration of aging. It invites us to move beyond the limiting images of physical, psychological and social functioning to embrace an ever unfolding sense of discovery.”
– Frank Ostaseski author of The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully

“Vivid, moving, and wise, this collection of poems offers an abundance of delights and surprises. Here are the keen observations of a poet who translates wonder into words.” – Olivia Ames Hoblitzelle, author of Aging with Wisdom: Reflections, Stories & Teachings
